FIA World Council gives RX green light The World Motor Sports Council (WMSC) meeting on December 5, held as a part of the FIA Annual General Assembly in Istanbul, approved the regulations and calendar for the 2013 FIA European Rallycross Championship. The press statement issued after the WMSC highlighted some details from the regulations (below), other items of change having previously been approved by the FIA at the September WMSC meeting.

The 2013 FIA European Rallycross Championship will be promoted by  IMG, the world leader in sports, fashion and media. A revised event format that will create a clear visual progression through the event will be introduced and events will benefit from improved television coverage with higher production values and unrivalled distribution through IMG which is also the world’s largest independent distributor of sports programming.   The WMSC approved the following amendments to the 2013 Sporting Regulations: - Drivers will no longer be excluded from the race as a result of a false start; instead a driver will be required to complete two Joker laps - The number of cars permitted to take part in the Final is set at six - Results from each round of the Championship will count towards the title - A ‘Rookie of the Year’ prize will be awarded to the highest-placed driver competing in their first FIA SuperCar season - The limitation on the permitted number of tyres per event has been amended from four to eight [Supercar only] - Drivers will be permitted a maximum of three engines per season. Any additional engines will be penalised by the deduction of 20 Championship points per engine - Only two turbos are authorised per event.
